El Rey Del Mundo 4 Cigar Variety Fresh Pack Sampler

£22.49

El Rey Del Mundo has been making cigars since 1848, first in Havana, and for the past thirty-plus years out of the legendary HATSA factory in Danlí, Honduras. That factory, built by the great Frank Llaneza, is the same house that produces Punch and Hoyo de Monterrey, and everything that comes out of it carries that same standard of construction. This four-cigar fresh pack pulls a toro from each of the brand’s four cornerstone expressions and seals them with Boveda humidification so they’re ready to smoke the second you open the pack.

The Classic Natural Reserva Salado wraps Ecuadorian Sumatra over aged Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos in a 6×54, delivering white pepper, cedar, coffee, and cocoa in a smooth, medium-bodied ride that earned the line a 91 from Cigar Aficionado. The Oscuro Robusto Larga puts a dark Connecticut Broadleaf over that same Honduran core for something richer and earthier, also rated 91. The Shade Grown Toro is the rare one: a 6×52 built on a Connecticut wrapper leaf shade-grown right in Honduras, a unique Honduran puro with baking spices, roasted nuts, and a natural sweetness you don’t find often at this price. The Appointment Toro rounds things out with a Cameroon-seed wrapper grown by the Eiroa family in Danlí, a Connecticut Broadleaf binder, and Ecuadorian and Nicaraguan fillers delivering cinnamon, cedar, pepper, and a bright, vibrant sweetness. Four wrappers, four distinct characters, one storied Honduran brand. This is a great introduction and an even better refresher course.
